FORMER VICE President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife, Samira Bawumia, were seen at a separate event last Saturday, mourning with some celebrities who had lost their loved ones.

Dr. Bawumia was seen at the forecourt of the State House with other bigwigs within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), such as Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Wontumi, Sammy Awuku, Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, and former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Akosua Asaa Manu, popularly known as Kozie, among others, to observe the funeral service of Highlife musician, Emmanuel Harris Brefo, popularly known as Dada KD.

Dr. Bawumia and his team were seen consoling the family of the late musician alongside other stars. He was also applauded for his attendance.

The 54-year-old music star, who passed away in May 2025 after a brief illness, received a solemn state burial that brought together a cross-section of Ghanaians.

On the other hand, Samira Bawumia was seen at Prophet Nigel Gaisie’s father’s burial.

Samira Bawumia broke political protocol to console Prophet Gaisie, a staunch supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), receiving accolades for her support.

One Kwabena Bonie Ansah on Facebook condemned the no-show at the event by some members of the NDC.

He wrote, “Prophet Nigel Gaisie buried his father yesterday, and NDC Govt and party leadership pretended they didn’t even get an invite.

“Shame! They’re waiting for Duncan Williams and Owusu Bempah to invite them, and they’ll drive in their numbers to honour them.

“This guy sacrificed his everything and stood by you guys at a time when your fair-weather friends were listening to their stomachs, yet you guys can easily turn your backs on Prophet Nigel Gaisie. Nobody has asked you guys to feed anybody ooooo, just respect and recognition is what they’re asking for.”

Nigel Gaisie, in a Facebook post, expressed gratitude to the former Second Lady for gracing the funeral with her presence.

He wrote: “We were honoured to have Ghana’s Former 2nd Lady, H.E. Samira Bawumia, join us in the celebration of my dad’s life over the weekend. Her presence was a sweet reminder of community, love, and fellow feelings. We felt loved and appreciated by H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, our former Vice President, and NPP Presidential hopeful deeply!

Your presence and support mean a lot to my family, the church, and I… May God’s continued blessings abound in your lives.”
