Police Chase Two Bank Robbers

THE GHANA Police Service has launched a manhunt to arrest the two people who are among the 15 suspects involved in various rural bank robberies across the country.

This statement was made known by the Inspector General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno stated that over the past year, the service recorded a number of robberies targeting financial institutions, particularly rural banks, pledging to dismantled the gang behind all these robberies.

“So far, we have successfully arrested ten suspects. Three other suspects were shot dead in the course of the operation during a shootout with the police. We have launched a manhunt for the remaining suspects who are on the run. We will not stop until we get them arrested,” he stated.

IGP Yohunu further added that the service was able to recover 14 weapons including AK 47 rifles, Pump Action guns, a single-barrel gun, pistols, ammunitions, vehicles and mobile phones among others.

He said the operation took place at areas such as Ahafo, Western, Central, Eastern and Ashanti region in towns such as Esereso Adagya, Ejisu Achiaakrom, Atonsu-Kyirapatre, Ahwia-Zongo, Aputuogya-Abuontem, Kaase-BOST, Asuofua, Atonsu-Monaco, Pakyi, Obuasi and Buoho near Kronum.

IGP Yohuno acknowledged and commended the Ashanti Regional Police Commander and his intelligence team for the role they played to ensure the success of this operation.

“Let us all be vigilant members of the community, and report any suspicious persons or activities to the police. I would like to assure you that the police will continue to make life uncomfortable for criminal elements in our society. We will continue to pursue you till you are brought to justice,” he added.
