Chinese Nationals, Others Robbed On Highway

THREE CHINESE nationals and some Ghanaians have been robbed of their valuables at gunpoint between Ahyiresu and Kwame Dwomoh Sreso along the Bibiani-Goaso highway by unknown hoodlums.

Wielding guns and other weapons, the robbers, reportedly, blocked the busy road around 7pm on November 23, 2025 and started their illegal operations, amid shootings into the air.

According to the Bibiani District Police in the Ashanti Region, the miscreants, numbering about eight, initially stopped a pick-up vehicle which was being driven by a Ghanaian with three Chinese nationals onboard.

A few moments later, other vehicles plying the road bumped unto the crime scene and they were also stopped by the hoodlums, who then ordered their victims to lie on the road.

The robbers, according to a police statement which has been sighted by the paper, robbed their victims of their valuables.

“They collected their cash, mobile phones and other valuables. After they succeeded in robbing the victims, they fired shots into the air and fled from the scene,” the statement read.

It added that the case was immediately reported to the police, who rushed to the scene but meet the absence of the suspects, who had then gone into hiding.

The police searched the area with the hope of finding the suspects. “However, due to poor visibility the surrounding bush could not be searched,” the statement noted.

According to the Nyinahin District police, photographs of the scene were taken for evidential purpose, adding that “efforts are being made to get the culprits arrested and brought to book”.
