Family of the late Kwadwo Adu and GFA officials
The family of Emmanuel Kwadwo Adu, a former Vice-Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), on Tuesday, January 27, officially informed the leadership of the Association of his death during a visit to the GFA Secretariat.
Emmanuel Kwadwo Adu served as Vice-Chairman of the GFA between 1992 and 1994 and played a significant role in the administration of Ghana football during that period.
He later became a major figure at Asante Kotoko SC, where he was a key sponsor and Chairman of the club’s Board of Directors from 1994 to 1996.
Beyond football, the late Adu had a distinguished diplomatic and business career. He served Ghana as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland, before later being posted to Benin. He was also the West African representative of Scancem International and the Chief Executive Officer of Judah (Alabado) Ltd.
H.E. Emmanuel Kwadwo  Adu also left a lasting legacy in Ghana’s media industry. He founded the country’s first fully Christian Broadcasting Network, Channel R—now known as 3FM—which he owned and operated from 1996 until 2015.
He is scheduled to be laid to rest on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Akyem Abenase in the Eastern Region.
