President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, is set to embark on a nationwide regional tour, starting with a four-day working visit to the three Northern Regions as part of renewed efforts to strengthen stakeholder engagement and fast-track football development across the country.
The tour began yesterday, February 2, 2026, with the GFA President arriving in Wa, the Upper West Regional capital.
During his stay, the CAF 2nd Vice-President held extensive engagements with the leadership of the Upper West Regional Football Association, as well as club owners and officials from the various football divisions.
The discussions were expected to centre on key challenges facing football in the region, opportunities for growth, and strategies to enhance the local football ecosystem.
As part of the visit, President Simeon-Okraku will also pay a courtesy call on the Upper West Regional Minister, Charles Lwanga Puozuing.
Talks are expected to focus on areas of shared interest, including football infrastructure development, youth and grassroots programmes, and stronger collaboration between football authorities and regional government.
The GFA President will further inspect ongoing football development projects in the region to assess progress and ensure they align with the Association’s long-term vision. Planned inspection visits include the Malik Jabir Stadium and the newly constructed B.K. Adama Park.
After concluding activities in Wa, the GFA delegation will stop in Tumu before proceeding to Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional capital, where similar stakeholder meetings and consultations with football administrators and club representatives will be held.
The Northern tour will conclude in Tamale, where President Simeon-Okraku is expected to wrap up the series of engagements with the Northern Regional Football Association and other key football stakeholders.
The nationwide tour forms part of the GFA’s broader commitment to inclusive governance, grassroots development and direct engagement with stakeholders at all levels, as the Association continues to strengthen football structures and promote sustainable growth across Ghana.
