Showboy Finally Arrested

Showboy in handcuffs after his arrest

Musician, Sam Sarfo Junior, otherwise known as Showboy, has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service, days after an earlier attempt to detain him failed and went viral on social media.

Videos currently circulating online show Showboy handcuffed and speaking with police officers, visibly frustrated as he repeatedly said, “This is so… wrong.” A voice heard in the footage, believed to be from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters, claimed officers had been instructed to bring the musician in for detention. A female officer, who identified herself as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), was also heard engaging him.

During the arrest, Showboy asked for water and requested to speak with his doctor, claiming he is a psychiatric patient who needs access to his psychiatrist. The officers were heard responding calmly as they tried to manage the situation.

The arrest follows a failed attempt at his residence, where individuals believed to be CID officers tried to arrest him while he was live on TikTok. That confrontation, also captured on video, showed Showboy angrily challenging the officers and insisting they had not presented valid arrest documents.

He refused to go with them, telling both the officers and his online followers that he could not be arrested without proper authorisation.

As of now, the Ghana Police Service has not officially stated the reasons for Showboy’s arrest.
