Kemuel
Rising Nigerian singer and songwriter, Kemuel, has begun 2026 with the release of his latest single, ‘Ovah’, marking the start of a new project phase in his musical journey.
According to a press release issued by Muse Studios Limited, the song offers a raw and honest reflection on the emotional confusion that often follows a breakup.
Based on a true-life experience, ‘Ovah’ captures the complex feelings of denial, grief, and anger that accompany heartbreak. The song portrays the struggle of trying to move on while still holding onto memories and emotional ties.
In an interview following the release, Kemuel revealed that the song is one of his most personal works yet. “This song reflects that moment when you say it’s over, but deep down you are still emotionally attached. It is honest and represents emotions many people go through but rarely talk about,” he said.
The song begins with expressions of emotional resistance and pride, but gradually shifts into a tone of acceptance and painful clarity, highlighting the reality of letting go.
The single was produced by Kemuel’s alter ego, Wondah, a creative persona he uses to maintain artistic control over his sound production. The artiste further explained that producing the track himself helped him preserve the authenticity of the emotions conveyed in the record.
Kemuel has gained attention for his emotionally resonant songwriting and genre-fluid musical style, which blends contemporary African sounds with personal storytelling. His earlier projects, including ‘Escape’ and ‘Clouds’, have helped establish his presence within the African music scene.
Speaking about his future plans during an interview, Kemuel hinted at more music that will explore deeper emotions and creative experimentation.
“This release marks the beginning of a new era for me. I am working on projects that will allow listeners to experience different layers of my artistry,” he added.
