Police Recover Stolen Vehicle

The recovered vehicle

The Ghana Police Service has recovered a stolen vehicle and other exhibits following an intelligence-led operation into a residential robbery incident.

On December 4, 2025, armed men attacked a complainant in her room and made away with her Toyota Hilux pick-up vehicle, an iPhone 16 Pro Max, and other personal belongings.

Based on sustained intelligence gathering, the police located a suspect identified as Clement Kofi Aidoo, also known as Joseph Abequaye, Yaw, and Paddy.

The suspect attempted to attack the officers, but was shot and injured in the process, and was rushed to the Police Hospital for treatment, where he was pronounced dead while receiving medical attention.

Police retrieved the stolen Toyota Hilux pick-up, the complainant’s phone, and several documents from the suspect.

Further checks established that in November 2025, the same suspect absconded with a Toyota Camry vehicle belonging to a police officer who, through a recruitment agency, had engaged the suspect to care for his ailing father.

A statement issued by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer, Criminal Investigation Department, added that the vehicle was later recovered in the Central Region after it was abandoned by the suspect following a chase by the police.

The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of its continued commitment to tracking criminal networks, recovering stolen property, and ensuring that persons involved in such violent offences are brought to justice.
