First Lady, Others Mourn With Sammy Gyamfi

ALL ROADS in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region, yesterday led to the Ridge Park where the one-week observance of Andrews Kwame Amankwah, the father-in-law of Goldbod Boss, Sammy Gyamfi, was held.

Among the dignitaries present at the solemn ceremony included the First Lady, Lordina Mahama, who was accompanied by the Minister of Works and Housing, Ken Gilbert Adjei, and other officials from the presidency.

The programme was graced by some prominent people in the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by national chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Fiifi Kwetey, General Secretary, and other executives.

Also present were Ofosu Ampofo, Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional NDC Chairman, Augustus Andrews Nana Akwasi and other party executives in the region.

The clergy were also represented at the function. Top men of God including Opambuor Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom, Nigel Gaisie and Badu Kobi were present.

Arch Bishop Duncan Williams was represented by some pastors.

Some businessmen were also there to mourn with Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi and his wife, Mrs. Irene Gyamfi, who were seated at the function to receive condolences from sympathizers over their loss.

Top members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), including former Kumasi Mayor, Sammy Pyne, Edmund Kyei, Asokwa Constituency and NPP former First Vice Chairman, were also present. The bereaved family has announced that the remains of the late Andrews Kwame Amankwah would be interred on Saturday, May 30, 2026, followed by his final funeral rites at the Ridge Park in Kumasi on the same day.

Mr. Andrews Kwame Mankwah was shot by some robbers, who forcibly snatched his vehicle from him. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment but he succumbed to his wounds.

His killers have since been arrested by the police in Kumasi, following an intelligence operation.
