Two Ghanaian nationals have been injured in the United Arab Emirates following a drone incident in the vicinity of Dubai International Airport yesterday, amid ongoing regional tensions in the Middle East.
Two drones fell near Dubai International Airport, injuring four people, international media reported yesterday.
The injuries to the two are not critical, and the injured have been sent to hospital where they are said to be recovering.
This incident happened just few days after four Ghanaian soldiers serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) were injured after a double missile strike hit a Ghanaian battalion base amid escalating hostilities along the Lebanon-Israel border.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, said the Government of Ghana strongly condemns any act that endangers civilian lives and critical infrastructure.
“Such incidents pose serious risks to public safety and underscore the importance of ensuring the protection of civilians and vital international transport hubs,” it said.
The statement pointed out that Ghana’s Ambassador in the United Arab Emirates has led a delegation of the Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Consulate in Dubai to visit the two injured Ghanaians in hospital.
“Their injuries are not critical and we expect full recovery soon. We therefore urge calm as we continue to extend consular assistance and collaborate closely with host authorities,” it added.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to engage with the appropriate authorities as required.
“The Government of Ghana expresses its concern over the incident and conveys its thoughts to the injured individuals and their families,” it stated.
The Ministry reiterated government’s commitment to the protection and welfare of Ghanaian citizens wherever they may be.
The statement further noted that the Government of Ghana is actively supporting ongoing consultations within the United Nations (UN) to pass a resolution seeking a cessation of hostilities.
“The Ministry is offering the necessary leadership and coordination with Ghana’s Diplomatic Missions and will provide updates on the matter as and when the need arises,” it stressed.
The statement reiterated government’s call for Ghanaians in the Gulf region to always exercise heightened vigilance and comply with directives from Ghanaian Embassies and local authorities.
Soldiers Attack
Four Ghanaian soldiers serving with the UNIFIL were injured on March 6, 2026, after a double missile strike hit a Ghanaian battalion base.
According to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), the incident unfolded during a sharp escalation in cross-border exchanges between the Israel Defense Forces and the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah.
The injured soldiers are part of the peacekeeping contingent serving under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, a mission established to monitor the fragile ceasefire and maintain stability along the volatile border between Lebanon and Israel.
Following the strike, the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued a strong condemnation, describing the attack as a serious violation of international law and a threat to international peacekeeping operations.
