Wanlov the Kubolor has expressed support for comments made by President John Dramani Mahama suggesting that the proposed Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill is no longer a key focus for his government.

Speaking in an interview on March 31, 2026, President Mahama stated that his administration is prioritising pressing economic and social issues affecting citizens, rather than advancing the controversial legislation.

Wanlov, reacting on X, described the development as encouraging, while criticising advocates of the bill in strong terms.

He also linked the government’s apparent shift in position to Ghana’s relations with the European Union, noting that the bloc maintains protections for LGBTQ+ communities.

The musician argued that such international commitments could influence domestic policy decisions, particularly on human rights issues.

Known for his activism, Wanlov has consistently opposed the bill since its introduction in 2021, maintaining that it infringes on fundamental human rights.

The Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill continues to generate debate across Ghana, with differing views among political leaders, civil society groups and the public.
