Abronye Arrested Over ‘Adenta NDC Court’ Allegations, Threats

Kwame Baffoe Abronye

The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe Abronye, widely known as Abronye DC, is in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service. He was arrested over allegations of false publication, conduct likely to cause fear and panic, and issuing threats against an Adenta Circuit Court judge.

While the police authorities are yet to give details to the public concerning the arrest, Abronye was heard accusing judges of the Adenta District of bias in their rulings, especially on matters relating to the opposition NPP. In a video which has since gone viral, the Bono NPP Chairman on his ‘The Evidence Show’ was heard accusing the Adenta District Court judges of being “politicians” who take directives from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

While he kept the name of the accused judge anonymous, he alleged that the individual has an agreement with the government in power to oversee his cases. He further alleged that the said judge has been promised promotion by the party in power to oversee the rulings of some cases that will be assigned to him.

“You have grammatical problems, but you have been assigned to oversee cases at Adenta. And it is because you are a political judge, that is why anytime they have a case, they prepare it to be sent to the Adenta Circuit Court, because they have a political judge to oversee their benefits,” he alleged.

Abronye DC further accused the Ghana Police Service of constantly allowing the Circuit Court to oversee criminal cases, saying, “Have you not realised that anytime the police have a case, they are quick to send it to the Adenta Court? What negotiation does the Adenta Circuit Court have with the Ghana Police Service for them to be aiding them? It is not a court that delivers justice to its people.”

“If you are a political judge, a time will come; Article 146 will be in motion, because you cannot be a political judge forever. And to the political police, if your strategy is to come to NPP and sell some secret information of the NDC to us for appointment, then you better change your strategy because it won’t work,” he added.
