Gifty Anti Breaks Silence On IVF Struggles & Late Motherhood

Veteran broadcaster, Oheneyere Gifty Anti, has revealed that she went through several failed In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) attempts before successfully becoming a mother.

She made this known in an interview on Joy Prime on Thursday.

Gifty Anti said fear initially overwhelmed her due to widespread beliefs about the difficulty of having children after the age of 40. She noted, however, that she defied those expectations by giving birth to her first child at 47.

“I was scared to think of childbirth because I heard it’s impossible to have a child after 40, but I had my first child at 47,” she said.

The broadcaster added that her path to motherhood involved assisted reproductive treatment after multiple unsuccessful attempts.

“It didn’t happen naturally; I did IVF and I had failed IVFs before this one worked. All the treatment I went through, I have the scars to show for it,” she said.

Despite the setbacks, Gifty Anti said she remained hopeful and prayerful throughout the process. She added that she had considered adoption at one point.

“I wanted a child. I prayed and told God that if it doesn’t happen, I’m going to adopt a child. At a point, I met my doctor and he told me that my womb is fine, so let’s try. We tried and by the grace of God, it happened,” she added.
