I Was Financially Stable Before Marriage – RNAQ

The founder of Bills and Quick Angels Limited, Richard Nii Armah Quaye, has urged the public to disregard claims by his ex-wife, Joana Coffie, that she contributed to his success as a businessman.

Speaking in an interview with media personality Deloris Frimpong Manso on ‘The Delay Show’, he stated that he had already established himself as a businessman and was financially stable before marrying his ex-wife.

“I was working before I married her, I started my business before I married her, I started making money before I married her and funded our wedding. If I didn’t have money I couldn’t have married her, I spent a lot of money marrying her. All the things you have heard, 99% of it isn’t true,” Nii Armah Quaye said.

“It was a very luxurious wedding. Before I married her, I had a car, so I was not poor. Everything you have heard are untrue. They are orchestrated, deliberate attempt to attack me, to succumb and get me on my knees because I am building a brand for myself, and this is what they can use to defame me,” he added.

He indicated that allegations of physical abuse and assertions that he was poor before marriage levelled against him by the ex-wife were all untrue, as the court has acquitted and discharged him of all the things he was accused of by the ex-wife.

He further noted that it was rather the ex-wife who abandoned him and divorced him though he made several efforts as far back as 2020 to salvage the marriage from collapsing.

Mr. Armah Quaye added that it was therefore surprising to hear some accounts by some individuals on social media platforms that he was in a relationship with a woman called Hajia4Real among others, as well as describing him as a person who follows multiple women.

He said that all the allegations levelled against him by the ex-wife in court were attempts to soil his reputation as a businessman who married for ten years and never on any occasion engaged in extra-marital affairs with another woman.

“I never wanted this to happen, I am a gentleman with the kids. I begged Joana for us to hold on with the divorce. For the ten years that I was married, I never cheated on her,” he added.

The businessman also debunked allegations about reneging on his responsibilities to take care of his children by some individuals who are determined to ruin his reputation.

He said his children on a weekly basis spend four days with him and three days with their mother, adding that he take up responsibilities such as paying their fees, feeding, and accommodation among others.

Mr. Armah Quaye maintained that allegations of refusing to support his children to travel were also false given that he has on several occasions attempted to acquire travelling visas for the children but his ex-wife refused to support that move.

“When the marriage was on the verge of collapsing and I realised she was still interested to leave, I called her and said what do you want so that I do it for you, she refused to say anything because the scavengers and the parasites have hijacked her,” he disclosed.

“I asked that we don’t end up in court so that we settle our issues, but she wouldn’t listen. I don’t hate her, I am not the one who took her to court, she did,” he noted.

The businessman mentioned that he has on numerous occasions tried to resolve issues between them but to no avail.

He, however, stated that he is prepared for amicable settlement to reconcile with the ex-wife, despite her continuous posture of trying as much as possible to discredit him in her actions in public.

Background

Joana Coffie, ex-wife of businessman, Richard Nii Armah Quaye (RNAQ), recently filed for a divorce settlement and asked the court to order her ex-husband to pay her a lump sum of GH¢ 50 million.

The appeal, which was filed by her lawyer and former Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, argued that the trial judge erred in his ruling as he did not acknowledge that all the respondent’s assets, both movable and immovable, including company shares were acquired during their marriage.

The High Court, among other reliefs, granted a lump sum of GH¢300,000 to Joana Coffie when she sought for an amount of GH¢50 million.

Custody of their three children was also awarded to Joana Coffie, while Richard Nii Armah Quaye was granted visitation rights, including access during school  vacations.
