NR: 37,111 Candidates Sit For BECE

 

The Northern Regional Directorate of Education has revealed that 37,111 candidates from 808 schools will sit the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) across the 16 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Northern Region at 132 centres.

33,329 candidates are from public schools comprising 17,209 males and 16,120 females, with 3,782 from private schools made up of 1,817 males and 1,965 females.

The Directorate has deployed 132 supervisors, 130 assistant supervisors and 1,321 invigilators to ensure a smooth and credible examination process.

The Northern Regional Director of Education, Alhassan Alidu, encouraged all candidates to remain calm, focused, and confident throughout the examination period.

“This examination is an important milestone in your academic journey. Believe in your preparation, trust your abilities, and approach each paper with confidence. Success comes through hard work, discipline, and honesty,” he said.

He advised candidates to adhere strictly to examination regulations, avoid all forms of examination malpractice, reject leaked questions and unauthorised assistance, as well as demonstrate integrity and discipline.

The Northern Regional Education Directorate reiterated its unwavering commitment to combating examination malpractice.

Meanwhile, all stakeholders including parents, teachers, invigilators, security agencies, the media, and community leaders have been urged to support efforts toward ensuring free, fair, and transparent examinations.
