Media personality, DJ and musician, Andy Dosty, has alleged that musician, KiDi, failed to respond to his calls and messages regarding a planned tribute performance for late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).

Andy Dosty, who curated and produced the tribute segment, said several attempts to contact KiDi proved unsuccessful despite the musician reading his messages.

Speaking during Joy FM’s X Space on Sunday, Andy Dosty explained that he also contacted gospel musician, Nacee, about participating in the performance.

“I reached out to Nacee. Nacee had a plan because he had other arrangements, so his team decided to stay back for a while. KiDi, I called him on countless occasions. My younger brother wouldn’t pick up. I sent him messages; he would read them but not respond,” he said.

“Until I reached out to Vyrusky. The time they came back to me, it was too late,” he added explaining how someone like KiDi was not part of the performance.

The tribute performance, which featured musicians including Okyeame Kwame, Kwabena Kwabena, Ofori Amponsah and Ras Kuuku, has generated mixed reactions since Saturday’s event.

While some viewers praised the effort to honour Daddy Lumba, others criticised parts of the performance on social media.

Andy Dosty further revealed that the team had only two weeks to prepare for the tribute after earlier plans involving other individuals were unexpectedly changed.
