Late Nollywood actor, Solomon Akiyesi, has been laid to rest following his sudden death a few weeks ago.
The actor’s passing threw the movie industry into mourning after news of his demise broke online.
According to the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Yakub Abubakar, Solomon Akiyesi had complained of pains and was taken to the hospital for treatment. However, tragedy struck after his wife reportedly discovered he was unresponsive around 4 AM.
Videos and pictures from the burial ceremony have since surfaced on social media, showing family members and close friends gathering to pay their final respects to the late actor.
A short church service was held before the burial, with mourners seen singing hymns and praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
Many attendees wore black T-shirts bearing Solomon Akiyesi’s image, while others dressed in black as they mourned the departed movie star.
However, some fans noticed the absence of many Nollywood actors and actresses at the funeral. This sparked reactions online, with some social media users questioning why only a few colleagues attended the burial ceremony.
Others, however, prayed for the late actor and praised his talent and contribution to the movie industry while he was alive.
Some social media users also expressed sympathy for the actor’s widow, who appeared deeply heartbroken during the funeral.
