Esther Smith’s Ex-Husband Questions Why She Still Mentions Him

Fresh discussions have emerged over the collapsed marriage between gospel musician Esther Smith and her ex-husband, Rev. Ahenkan Bonsu, 18 years after their divorce.

Speaking in an interview on Radio XYZ, Rev. Bonsu questioned why the gospel singer continues to mention his name during interviews about her past marriage.

According to him, Esther Smith remarried after their divorce, which also ended, and he believes she should stop discussing him publicly.

“It has been 18 years since our divorce, yet you still mention my name. Why?” he said during the interview.

Rev. Bonsu also alleged that the gospel musician became a third wife to a man in Kumasi and wondered why she does not speak about that relationship in her interviews.

He further denied claims made by Esther Smith in an earlier interview on The Delay Show where she suggested that family pressure pushed her into the marriage and that the relationship affected her music career.

“After ‘Ma Won Nsan’, marriage came into the picture… I began to sink. It was a very hard time,” Esther Smith had said.

Responding to the claims, Rev. Bonsu said he supported the singer’s music career during their marriage.

“I wrote songs for her and promoted them for her to make about 400 million as of 2007. Can I be a man who brought you down,” he questioned.

“I have not done anything. Esther Smith, please let my name sleep. If you go for interviews, stop portraying me as evil because when I met you, I treated you well,” he said.

Esther Smith and Rev. Ahenkan Bonsu were married in the mid-2000s before the marriage ended in a widely publicised divorce between 2008 and 2010.
