The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markins, has described the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government as a complete scam that has won power only to retrogress the country’s progress initiated under the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
He said the Mahama-led NDC government resorted to lies, sweet talk and deception to win power but after gaining power, the government has not implemented any meaningful policy.
“The entire NDC government is a complete scam and a 419 government. They have not been able to fulfill even one of what they said they will do”, he stated.
The MP for Effutu in the Central Region was speaking at a Youth Conference organised by the Western North Regional Branch of TESCON at Sefwi Wiawso.
It was on the theme, “Empowering the Youth, Building Tomorrow, Winning 2028”.

He pointed out that there was no way the NDC will win the next general election. He, however, called on the activists of the NPP to remain united adding that, “It is only a divided NPP that can be defeated in 2028.”
The Minority Leader was worried that the NPP has only one seat in the Western North Region but expressed optimism that with hard work and unity, the NPP will win more seats in 2028.
Mr. Afenyo-Markins charged TESCON members and the other youth wing of the party to rally behind the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and campaign vigorously for him and the party to win power to continue its pro-poor interventions for Ghanaians.
The Western North Regional Youth Organizer, Gabriel Doe, appealed to the youth to put everything aside and work hard for the party’s victory in 2028.
He said, “You are not only the future of the party but the true foot soldiers who will be moving from house to house to explain the good policies of the NPP to the people”.
The NPP MP for Suaman, Fredrick Addy, promised to retain the seat for the party.
“The NDC have been going round bragging that they will unseat me in the next elections. But let me assure you that we will retain Suaman and win some more seats in Western North in 2028,” he stated.
