K’si Schools Get Modern Furniture

FOUR SELECTED Senior High Schools (SHS) in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region, have taken delivery of modern furniture to help improve academic work.

The beneficiary academic institutions included Prince of Peace SHS, Wesley Girls’ SHS, Kumasi Senior High Technical School (KSHTS), and Islamic SHS.

Each of the above mentioned schools received 100 furniture from the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) via the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).

The presentation of the furniture is among the series of interventions by the KMA to create conducive environment in the schools to boost teaching and learning.

The Kumasi Mayor, Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, in his remarks after the presentation, said the government recognises the importance of quality education.

In this regard, he stated that the assembly would do its utmost best to support the schools, in order for them to provide quality education.

“The assembly has stepped up its efforts to create a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning in the schools under our jurisdiction,” the mayor said.

Ofori Agyeman Boadi, who is popularly known as ‘Zuba’ in the political circles, stated that the furniture presentation would not be a nine-day wonder, assuring to do more.

“Plans are in the pipeline for the KMA to procure additional 1,000 furniture sets before the end of the year and distribute them equitably to schools every three months,” he disclosed.

Zuba also said the assembly is in the process of constructing a 20-seater toilet facility at KSHTS and dining hall facility each at Serwaa Nyarko Girls’ SHS and Islamic SHS.

The Kumasi Mayor urged students to learn hard to justify the huge investments being made by government, as well as make their families and the city proud of them.

Judith Mensah Bamford of the Kumasi Metro Education Directorate lauded the KMA for its support and called for more assistance to both basic and senior high schools.

Rita Nti Acheampong of Prince of Peace SHS, on behalf of the beneficiary schools, assured that the furniture would be properly maintained to ensure their longevity.
