Black Asteroids
Ghana’s Black Asteroids are set to make history as they prepare to compete at the inaugural FIFAe Continental Championship Africa featuring eFootball™ Console in Casablanca, Morocco.
The tournament, scheduled for August 27–29, 2026, will bring together eight of Africa’s best national eFootball teams, with Ghana earning its place after a demanding FIFAe Nations League campaign.
The Black Asteroids had to remain consistent across three online qualifying weeks, where every result contributed to their chances of reaching the continental championship.
Ghana made an encouraging start to the campaign, finishing ninth in Africa with 130 Consistency Points during the opening qualifying week. They continued to compete strongly before producing a decisive performance in the final stage of qualification.
The team eventually secured seventh place with 425 Consistency Points, earning one of Africa’s eight qualification spots alongside Morocco, Madagascar, Tunisia, Senegal, Libya, Kenya and Egypt.
Head coach Emmanuel Lawson praised the players for their hard work, discipline and commitment but insisted that qualification was only the beginning. The team’s next target is to reach the FIFAe World Cup and create a historic moment for Ghanaian esports.
The Casablanca competition will feature a single round-robin league phase. The top two teams will advance directly to the semi-finals, while teams finishing third to sixth will battle for the remaining semi-final places through the quarter-finals.
