Tiwa Savage rocking a Sadia Sanusi Kente outfit
Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Tiwa Savage, has paid a glowing tribute to the late Ghanaian fashion designer Sadia Sanusi after rocking one of her iconic Kente outfits for Bozoma Saint John and Keely Watson’s wedding in Accra last Friday.
Tiwa, who was spotted in a striking Kente ensemble by the late designer, turned heads as one of the best-dressed guests at the star-studded ceremony.
Her look has since been trending across social media as one of the standout outfits from the wedding.
The dress, according to reports, was made in under 24 hours for the ceremony.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Tiwa wrote: “Celebrating love between my sister @badassboz and @keelywatson. May God bless your union. Such an honour to be dressed in @saadiasanusi, may your legacy live on.”
Behind the glamour was an emotional story. Tiwa’s stylist, Ade Owolabi, recounted in a post on her Instagram story how Tiwa was unaware of the passing of the designer at the time of styling.
“I did not know about the passing of the owner, Sadia Sanusi, until Tiwa was on her way to the event and called me to ask, ‘Did you know the owner passed?’ I was shocked. I thought, ‘Wait… wasn’t I just talking to the owner?’
“After hearing the news, I was honestly so sad. But at the same time, I felt grateful and amazed that I had been led to use this designer. I discovered the brand just 48 hours before the event and immediately felt, this is the brand I want to work with. God knows why.
“I had no idea that the CEO and founder had passed two months earlier. Yet the experience of working with her team was truly amazing. Her legacy clearly lives on through the incredible people she left behind.
“She built something beautiful. She left behind an amazing team, and I believe that says so much about a person and the legacy they leave behind,” she wrote.
The late Sadia Sanusi, founder of the luxury brand Sadia Sanusi, passed on two months ago, but her brand continues to receive international recognition, with Tiwa’s tribute being the latest testament to her enduring legacy.
