RESIDENTS OF Ankaase in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region are appealing to the government to urgently provide the community with a school and electricity to support its growing population.
The community leaders say the lack of the basic amenities is hampering development and making life difficult for residents, particularly children who are forced to travel long distances to access education.
The Odikro of Ankaase, Nana Yaw, who made the appeal alongside other community leaders, said the population of the community continued to increase without a corresponding provision of basic social amenities.
He, therefore, called on the government to construct a school in the community to enable children to access quality education without having to travel far from their homes.
The leaders also raised concerns about the lack of electricity, saying residents were compelled to live in darkness after sunset.
According to them, the situation was not only affecting domestic activities but also hampering economic activities in the community.
They appealed to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakuhene and other relevant authorities to consider the plight of the residents and extend electricity to the community as a matter of urgency.
The community leaders said the provision of a school and electricity would significantly improve living conditions, promote education and create opportunities for economic growth.
They expressed hope that the government would respond positively to their concerns and provide the needed infrastructure to facilitate development in Ankaase.
