Lamiley in action
Greater Accra’s Lamiley is back on top. After facing a slow moment some weeks ago in this year’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) competition, the Ga-Dangbe queen staged a stunning comeback on Sunday night, leading the awards league with a big win.
The fan-favourite walked into the night with three nominations – Best Costume, Most Eloquent, and Star Performer – and walked out with the biggest of them all: Star Performer of the Night.
And she did it in grand style. Lamiley brought history to life with a powerful re-enactment of Naa Dode Akaibi, the first and only woman to become King of the Ga-Dangbe. It was a bold pick – a story GMB has seen before, but never quite like this.
Resident judge Janet Sunkwa-Mills, who has been on the panel for years, could not hide her admiration. She noted she had seen the Naa Dode Akaibi story performed several times on the GMB stage, but Lamiley’s delivery was distinctive, fresh and unforgettable.
The win marks a major turnaround for Lamiley, who has been one of the most talked-about contestants this season. With seven nominations and four awards already in the bag since the competition began, she remains one of the most decorated queens of GMB 2026.
In a short message to her supporters after the win, an emotional Lamiley said, “God bless them,” thanking everyone who has stood by her. But she wasn’t done celebrating – she issued a rallying call for more support as the competition gets tougher by the week.
