THE MEMBER of Parliament (MP) for Asawase Constituency in Kumasi, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has called for a broader support for the educational system in the country to boost teaching and learning.
According to him, support for the educational sector should not be centered only on infrastructure, stressing the need for efforts to be made so that all necessary materials needed to ensure conducive learning in schools are provided.
Mohammed Muntaka was also of the opinion that there should be a system whereby every Ghanaian child is given equal opportunity to succeed in life irrespective of their economic, religious or social backgrounds.
“Our investment in education must go beyond providing infrastructure. It must include creating the right environment, providing the necessary learning materials, and ensuring that every child is given the opportunity to succeed,” he said.
The Asawase Lawmaker, who doubles as the Interior Minister, was speaking during ‘My First Day At School’ programme, held at the Asokore Mampong R/C Basic School and Aboabo Middle ‘B’ Basic School in Asokore Mampong Municipality.
The Interior Minister used the occasion to present stationery and other learning materials to the pupils as part of his contributions and efforts to make them feel happy and comfortable in their new environment.
The ‘My First Day at School’ programme is mainly focused at supporting children entering school for the first time and helping them begin their formal education with the basic materials needed for learning to positively shape their future.
Continuing, Mohammed Muntaka stated his “readiness and commitment to supporting initiatives which are intended at improving the quality of education and creating better opportunities for children in the Asawase Constituency.”
He described education as the best legacy that parents and guardians could bequeath to their children in these modern times, therefore parents should invest in the education of their children so they would become influential people in future.
Mohammed Muntaka expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive, the Municipal Education Directorate and their respective teams “for their continued dedication to the education and welfare of pupils in the area.”
