Tibini Atta
Tibini Atta, a 37-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment for defiling an 11-year-old girl in the Kpandai District of the Northern Region.
A Citinewsroom report indicates that the incident occurred on Thursday, September 24, 2026, when the victim went to a farm with the convict.
Information released by the police stated that Tibini Atta had sexual intercourse with the girl, resulting in injuries that required medical treatment.
The sexual assault was reported to the Kpandai Police by the victim’s uncle, a 25-yerar-old farmer at about 2:55 p.m on the same day.
The victim was subsequently taken to the Kpandai District Hospital, where she was admitted and treated.
The report said Police investigators who visited the hospital were informed by the attending nurse that, due to the nature of her injuries, the victim would be referred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for further medical management.
Atta was arraigned before the Gender Circuit Court in Tamale on Friday, September 25, 2026, where he pleaded guilty to the offence and was convicted and sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment.
Meanwhile, investigators from the Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Tamale have visited the victim, who is receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
Police said the victim is responding to treatment and her condition is being closely monitored.
The Police Command said it will continue to liaise with the hospital and relevant stakeholders to monitor her recovery and provide the necessary support.
