The late Nana Yaw Kyere
Three people have been remanded into custody by the Teshie District Court for their alleged involvement in the murder of 33-year-old phone dealer, Nana Yaw Kyere, who was reported missing on September 22, 2026.
The accused, Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams and Josiah Obodai, were hauled before the court yesterday where the preliminary charge of murder was read to them.
The court has adjourned the case to October 16, 2026 as the police conduct further investigation into the circumstances that led to the tragic murder of Kyere, popularly known as Dinero.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19, 2026 in his Honda Civic vehicle but did not return.
Investigations revealed that the victim was lured to Philip Tefe’s residence at Teshie Agbleza by Sarah Osei Adams.
Both accused persons have reportedly confessed to their involvement and told police that Tefe attacked the victim during a confrontation and hit him with a metallic object, causing him to sustain injuries.
The victim was then moved to another room where he was left unattended to and later died.
Investigations further established that the victim’s body was conveyed in a Kia Morning vehicle to a location near the motorway on September 20, 2026, where the body was dumped in a bush and set ablaze.
The partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 on September 21, 2026.
The victim’s biological mother and an uncle later identified the body at the Police Hospital morgue on September 24, 2026.
The police have also retrieved the victim’s iPhone 12, which Tefe allegedly sold for GH¢100.
The buyer, Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained for dishonestly receiving the phone.
Further investigations later led to the arrest of Josiah Obodai, who is being investigated in connection with the disposal of the body.
His father’s Kia Morning vehicle, which is believed to have been used to convey the body, has also been impounded.
The three suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue to identify and arrest other persons who may have been involved in the case.
