Lands Commission Outlines Online Land Purchase Process

The Lands Commission has announced that prospective land buyers can now conduct online searches to verify details about the land before completing a purchase.

This forms part of efforts to make land acquisition easier and discourage fraudulent transactions.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, the Deputy Executive Secretary in charge of Operations at the Lands Commission, Surveyor Raphael Hokey, outlined the process prospective buyers must follow to access the service.

He said applicants must first visit the Commission’s online services portal at onlineservices.lc.gov.gh, where the site plan of the land intended to be purchased will be uploaded.

Also, applicants are expected to pay an applicable search fee through mobile money after submitting the document, with a report sent following the search process.

The online service is intended to give prospective buyers an additional means of checking land information before committing their money to a transaction.

Mr. Hokey further disclosed that the online service is available in 10 of the 16 regions, with the Ashanti Region expected to be added this week.

He identified the newly created regions, Greater Accra, Volta, Eastern and Western regions as the areas where the service is available.

“This is available for lands in the six new regions, Greater Accra, Volta Region, Eastern Region, Western Region and just this week, we are starting from Ashanti,” he stressed.

He added that prospective buyers can initiate an online search by following these steps: “1. Visit the online portal: Log on to [onlineservices.lc.gov.gh](https://onlineservices.lc.gov.gh).

  1. Upload the site plan: Submit the site plan of the land for which information is required.
  2. Pay the search fee: Make payment through the mobile money option provided.
  3. Receive the search report: The report is sent to the applicant’s email after the search process.”

The service will enable applicants to submit a site plan through the Lands Commission’s online platform, pay the required search fee using mobile money, and receive a report on the search.
