Okese 1
Rapper, Okese 1, has announced the end of his Amotia Geng movement, citing his religious beliefs.
In a post on X, the rapper, born Afrane Frank, said the movement could have become one of the biggest in Ghana but was associated with blasphemy.
“No More Amotia Geng! That would have been one of the biggest movements in the country, but it was soooo blasphemous to God,” he wrote, adding that his strong belief in God had compelled him to stop promoting it.
Okese 1 and his friends from Kumasi formed Amotia Geng. It later became a key part of his identity and music brand, gaining prominence after his 2020 hit song Yie Yie.
“Amotia” is a Twi word commonly used to describe a dwarf.
