Slain Female Footballer’s Parents Demand Justice

The suspects

The parents of a 23-year-old female footballer who was brutally stabbed to death at Odumase Afrancho in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region have appealed to President John Dramani Mahama, the Attorney-General and other relevant authorities to ensure that justice is served.

The grieving parents, Nana Kwaku Nimrah and Akosua Brago, father and mother of the deceased respectively, made the passionate appeal during an interview with the DAILY GUIDE at their residence at Odumase Afrancho.

They called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the gruesome murder of their daughter, Agartha Owusu Ansah, popularly known as ‘One Cedis’, insisting that all persons found culpable must face the full rigours of the law.

According to the bereaved parents, the judicial process must not be compromised by financial inducements or any form of interference from individuals or groups seeking to influence the outcome of the case.

They stressed that the courts must remain independent and allow justice to prevail, adding that the case should demonstrate to the world that nobody is above the law.

The heartbroken parents disclosed that their daughter had several dreams and aspirations, particularly her ambition to become a professional footballer, but her life had been cruelly cut short by people they described as wicked and having no regard for human life.

They further appealed to President Mahama and their Member of Parliament, Kofi Amankwa-Manu, MP for Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency, to intervene and ensure that all persons connected to the murder are brought to book.

The family also called on the Ghana Police Service and the Judicial Service to handle the matter professionally and ensure that the investigation and prosecution are not influenced by external pressure.

Meanwhile, two persons have reportedly been arrested by the police in connection with the murder.

The suspects were arrested at Techiman in the Bono East Region and were allegedly found in possession of the deceased’s tricycle and mobile phone.
