3 Motorbike Robbers Nabbed

The three suspects

THREE SUSPECTED members of a motorcycle gang, who have been terrorising residents of Breman, Kronum and Suame, all in Kumasi, with their robbery operations, have been arrested by the police.

The trio have been identified by police as Sharif Mahmud, 23; Abdallah Karim, 25; and James Alena, 25. Several members of the group are still at large, and the police are making efforts to arrest them.

According to a police statement, members of the group usually engage in illegal midnight motorcycle racing in public roads at Breman, Kronum and Suame, and take advantage of that weird act to rob unsuspecting people.

The police report, authored by Superintendent Godwin Ahianyo, of the Ashanti Regional Police Command Public Affairs Unit, indicated that the group had evaded arrest until they were finally nabbed on November 1, 2026 at 1:40 a.m.

“The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested three members of a suspected outlaw motorcycle gang believed to be terrorising residents within the Breman-Kronum-Suame enclave in the Ashanti Region.

“The gang is alleged to have been engaging in illegal midnight motorcycle racing by taking over public roads and attacking and robbing unsuspecting passersby, thereby creating fear and insecurity among residents in the area.

“The Command had been monitoring the activities and movements of the group as part of sustained efforts to apprehend its members, who had consistently evaded arrest. However, at about 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026, a police team intercepted the gang at Suame in Kumasi.

“The operation resulted in the arrest of three suspects, identified as Sharif Mahmud, aged 23, Abdallah Karim, aged 25, and James Alena, aged 25, while several other members managed to escape,” the police report disclosed.

The three suspects, the police pointed out, have since been granted police inquiry bail and are expected to be arraigned before court when it resumes sitting following the ongoing strike by the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG).

The police disclosed that investigation into the case is ongoing, saying, “efforts are underway to track down and arrest the remaining members of the group,” and assured the public of its commitment to maintain law and order in the country.
