News anchor and show host at Adom TV/FM, Abena Opokua Ahwenee, has won an award at the just ended Time Ghana Arts and Entertainment Awards 2023 at East Legon, in the Greater Accra Region.
The award scheme, which was organised by Konamah’s Entertainment, nominated the news anchor, together with some other radio personalities for the Best News Anchor, Female category.
Abena Opokua Ahwenee is a versatile journalist with a lot of experience and passion for the radio profession.
She started her radio career at Life FM in 2007 as a newscaster and then headed to Hi FM in Abetifi Kwahu in 2009.
She proceeded to EIB Network’s Agoo FM at Nkawkaw from 2014 to 2018. She was awarded the position of a Senior Journalist, Deputy News Editor, and the Sit-In-Host for the Morning Show before leaving for Accra-based Dadi FM as the Morning Show Host from 2019-2022.
She is currently a news anchor at the Multimedia Group Ltd, Adom Brands, which consists of Adom TV, Adom FM, Nhyira FM, and Asempa FM.
Her hard work and consistency in the media space has fetched her other recognitions and awards such as the Eastern Regional Best News Caster of the Year and Female Newscaster of the Year by Foklex Media Awards in 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 respectively.
She was also adjudged the Female Radio Personality by Diamond Excellence Awards in 2022, organised by Danny’s Entertainment.
She won the Ghana Outstanding Woman, Radio Personality Award in 2022 by the Ghana Outstanding Woman Awards (GOWA), organised by ASKOF Productions.
Ahwenee, after receiving the award, dedicated it to Almighty God, the Multimedia Group Ltd (Adom Brands), her husband, Mr. Dwamena Mark Ampomah (LINKS), listeners, and all loved ones who supported her in winning the category.
