Ablakwa, Carlos Ahenkorah In Blows

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa And  Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah

A deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema West, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, yesterday engaged in a fierce banter in parliament

It was over an allegation that patrons of the Ghana Expatriate Business Awards were charged up to $100,000 to dine with President Akufo-Addo on the high table.

The event, which took place at Movenpick Hotel in Accra on December 8, 2017, has become a topical issue, with the minority NDC members capitalizing on it to attack functionaries of the ruling NPP and government officials for taking advantage of the presidency to ‘milk’ innocent people and corporate bodies.

Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa used yesterday’s sitting to express his displeasure at the development during an interview with the media in parliament; but Mr Caros Ahenkorah debunked the allegation.

The deputy trade and industry minister, who was the one who officially signed the letter to allow the organisers to do that special arrangement for the patrons of the event, was mad at the NDC over the claim.

The interview was interrupted as the deputy minister repeatedly called Ablakwa a liar and propagandist, arguing that the arrangement was not to fleece patrons but to raise funds for the proper organization of such an important event.

It got to a point when Mr Ahenkorah became so incensed that he started calling the NDC MP names.

The confrontation continued with trading of insults till some NDC MPs came to pull the North Tongu MP away.
