HELP START Education Foundation, a non-profit organisation, has commissioned a new ICT laboratory for students in the newly-commissioned Abomosu STEM Senior High School in the Atiwa West District of the Eastern Region.
The organisation donated 24 desktop computers, a laptop computer, a laser printer, an LCD projector, a scanner, a battery pack, two air conditioners, furniture, and books to help the students and other children to build on their knowledge in ICT and innovation.
Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, The Stake President of the Tema LDS Church, Stephen Apeaning Abu Jnr., averred that his foundation, Prosperous African Education made a call to the managers of Help Start Education to support the Abomosu school with ICT- equipment to connect students to online classes.
“The Help Start Education Foundation, as part of their corporate social responsibility, always provides laptops to students in ten Pacific Islands and Ghana, West Africa. I contacted a few friends and they came to my aid to support in providing this ultramodern ICT facility to my community, Abomosu,” he said.
Mr. Apeaning added, “the ICT laboratory will complement the government STEM agenda in the school, saying, every child should have the opportunity to learn and develop skills in our new field of the technology-driven economy.
Headmaster of the school, Ebo Sey, thanked the two foundations and assured them that the facilities would be used to the maximum benefit of the students.
He said the authorities were shaping the children to face any academic challenge.
Kaeme Foundation
Mr. Apeaning who also heads the Kaeme Foundation, an organisation that assists orphans or abandoned children to leave a normal life and reintegrate with their families, has sponsored 14 students to various traditional universities in the country.
“We have been reuniting these children to their original homes and also sponsor their education feeding and health bills, among others,” he stated.
Kaeme works with the Department of Social Welfare (DSW) to canvas for orphanages across Ghana, securing records, talking with caregivers, and interviewing children to create a profile on the child’s history, health, and personality.
“Our mission is to build families and protect vulnerable children in orphanages in Ghana to ensure that every child in an orphanage finds a healthy loving family,” he indicated.
