Managing Director of Access Bank Ghana, Pearl Nkrumah, has reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting economic development and strengthening partnerships in the Ashanti Region.

Speaking during her first official media engagement in Kumasi since assuming office, Madam Nkrumah described the Ashanti Region as one of the nation’s most vibrant commercial centres, driven by a strong entrepreneurial culture and significant contributions to national economic growth.

She explained that her decision to personally visit Kumasi, rather than delegate representatives from Accra, was intended to deepen stakeholder engagement and build direct relationships with businesses, customers and the media in the region.

“At Access Bank, we believe that to effectively serve Ghanaians, we must maintain transparent and respectful relationships with the media. Our doors remain open,” she stated.

Madam Nkrumah noted that Access Bank continues to play a key role in Ghana’s economy through employment creation and support for small and medium-scale enterprises across major trading hubs including Adum, Kejetia and surrounding communities.

She highlighted several corporate social responsibility interventions undertaken by the bank in the Ashanti Region, particularly in education, healthcare, sustainability and youth empowerment.

According to her, the bank’s “A Sandal More for a Better Tomorrow” initiative has distributed sandals produced from recycled tyres to schoolchildren while creating employment opportunities for more than 500 shoemakers in the region.

She added that the “Upcycle 4 Impact” initiative has also supplied schools with bags and educational materials manufactured from recycled products as part of efforts to promote environmental sustainability and educational support.

The Access Bank boss further disclosed that the bank had supported STEM education and girl-child empowerment programmes at the Bishop Speaks Child and Youth Development Centre in Kumasi.

She also cited the rehabilitation of the Community Health Post at the Amomorso CHPS Compound in the Bosome-Freho District as part of the bank’s contribution to improving healthcare delivery in underserved communities.

Touching on sports development, Madam Nkrumah reaffirmed the bank’s support for the Ashanti Region through its contribution towards the acquisition of a new team bus for Asante Kotoko in partnership with SMT Volvo Ghana.

She said the bank remained committed to building sustainable partnerships that drive economic inclusion and community development across the country.

Madam Nkrumah also announced a donation of GH¢50,000 by Access Bank towards the completion of the Regional Press Centre project being undertaken by the media fraternity in the Ashanti Region.

She described the initiative as a worthy project and indicated that the donation forms part of a long-term partnership between the bank and the media.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Kofi Adu Domfeh, expressed appreciation to Access Bank for its support to the Press Centre project.
