Police in Cape Coast in the Central Region have arrested the Adisadel College student who was seen assaulting his colleague in a video recording which went viral recently.
The disturbing video, that garnered massive angry reactions on social media and from the general public, showed the final-year student of the college bullying his junior colleague.
The final-year student was seen strangling the victim, leaving him helpless before hitting his face against a hard metal bed in their dormitory. As a result, the victim’s face swelled up instantly.
The arrest of the alleged bully follows a directive from the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, to the police to investigate the assault case.
The Attorney General also indicated that he was expecting that the suspect would subsequently be put before court.
The police have therefore arrested the suspect, and he is expected to be hauled before court today.
Reports had it that the student was arrested on Wednesday, July 26 and cautioned with causing harm and assault.
After the now-suspect was captured in the viral footage subjecting another student to the heartbreaking assault, the school authorities suspended both the victim and his assailant.
This development got many Ghanaians furious as they could not fathom why the victim should be punished.
Meanwhile, sources had it that the victim was suspended for allegedly refusing to report the incident which happened on June 30, this year, to the school authorities.
Following the intervention of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and other stakeholders, the victim has been recalled from his suspension, and is currently undergoing medical treatment.
DAILY GUIDE has gathered that the school has also assigned a psychologist to the victim to provide him with the necessary support and counselling to enable him to overcome the trauma.
The paper also gathered that the Senior Housemaster of the school has been suspended pending the outcome of ongoing investigation.
