Adonko International Music Festival Launched

World Star Records Limited, a music and artiste management company in Ghana, has launched its flagship event, theĀ Adonko International Music FestivalĀ slated for March 4 & 6, 2023.

Powered by local beverage producers, Adonko Company Limited, the event is scheduled to take place atĀ the Accra Sports StadiumĀ and would feature an array of Ghanaā€™s finest music stars.

Held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), the launch had inĀ attendanceĀ several musicians includingĀ Okuraseni Samuel, Andy and Kaakyire Kwame Appiah.

Also in attendance were some dignitaries and key stakeholders in the music and arts sectors including, Bessa Simons, President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA); MadamĀ Ā Janet Edna Nyame,Ā Ā Executive Director,Ā National CommissionĀ onĀ Culture; and Nana Aboagye Dacosta, chairperson for the event.

The Adonko International Music Festival, whichĀ will be held under the theme: ā€œFosteringĀ CreativityĀ through Music toĀ Promote NationalĀ Developmentā€,Ā is aimed atĀ promotingĀ Ghana’s rich music culture to the world while providing a platform for Ghanaian artistes to connect with music stars from other countries.

In his remarks, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of World Star Records Limited (WSR),Ā Ernest Djan,Ā said his team had reached out to all the top musicians in the country as well as a few others from Nigeria and other countries to perform at the event.

ā€œWe have reached out to almost all the musicians in Ghana and few in Nigeria for the concert. Also,Ā weĀ willĀ have international artistes passing through and I can say for a fact that this eventĀ is going to be super,ā€ heĀ assured.

On his part, General Manager of WSR,Ā Mark AkomeahĀ Sekyi, said the date for the event would enable Ghanaians enjoy the ā€œvibrant cultural spirit in our music, especially as Ghana celebrates its 66th Independence Day anniversary next year.ā€

ā€œAs Ghana prepares to celebrate its 66thĀ independence nextĀ year, we found it imperative to relive the already vibrant cultural spirit possessed by indigenous creatives both home and abroad.Ā This necessitated theĀ reinforcement of an already thought-out plan in the formĀ ofĀ an international music festival, whose surface we scratched last year,ā€Ā he stressed.

The three-day event would also showcaseĀ art exhibitions, fashion shows,Ā cultural displays,Ā toursĀ to some of Ghanaā€™s famous tourist sites,Ā amongst others.

The event, he added, would be held under the auspicesĀ ofĀ theĀ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and RegionalĀ Integration;Ā Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture;Ā National Commission on CultureĀ and other state and non-state agencies.
