Agya Koo and Kennedy Agyapong
Kumawood actor-turned-politician, Alexander Kofi Adu known as Agya Koo, has dismissed claims linking former New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong to his newly formed political movement, The Base Movement.
The clarification follows Agya Koo’s announced visit to Accra to officially initiate the party’s registration process and later engage supporters at Circle as part of early mobilisation efforts.
Speaking in a video circulating from an interview with a Kumasi-based media platform, Agya Koo stated unequivocally that Kennedy Agyapong has no current affiliation with the movement.
“Kennedy Agyapong has not even thought about supporting us in any way. Remember, he made it clear in his concession speech that he remains with the New Patriotic Party and has given no signal to us, the BASE leaders, of any plan to take charge,” he said.
Despite the denial, Agya Koo indicated that the party remains open to future collaboration. “If Ken decides to join, he is welcome,” he added.
He further revealed that several professionals, including lawyers and business figures, have already pledged their support, with ongoing efforts to expand the party’s reach and strengthen its grassroots base.
