Socialite and actress, Akuapem Poloo, has defended Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, following their defeat to Colombia in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup, urging Ghanaians to refrain from criticising the players and the technical team.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, which has since been deleted, Poloo praised the Black Stars for their performance despite the defeat, insisting they gave a good account of themselves against a formidable Colombian side.
According to her, Colombia are one of the toughest teams in the tournament, noting that even Portugal failed to defeat them.
“Nobody should open his or her mouth to insult either our coach or our players. Throughout this game, they did well. They did a great job. Despite all the hurt and the way, they were being stamped on, they still played well. Even Portugal could not defeat these Colombians. Our men played,” she said.
Poloo also suggested that the team’s performance may have been affected by distractions off the pitch.
She claimed that some women had allegedly promised to post explicit videos if Ghana lost to Colombia, arguing that such promises could have affected the players’ focus ahead of the match.
“What do you expect when a woman promises a man a naked body? When a woman tells a man to mess up and says, ‘If you mess up, I will show you my naked body.’ So they messed up to see the naked body. The woman said she would post it if Colombia defeated Ghana. They are waiting for it. You do not promise a man a naked body,” she added.
