Nana Extends Borders Closure

President Nana Akufo-Addo has by an Executive Instrument extended the closures of Ghana borders by one month.

Nana Akufo-Addo made the announcement on Friday, May 1, 2020, in a televised address to Ghanaian workers on May Day.

The extension is to take effect from May 4, 2020, and will remain closed till May 31, he says.

All borders – land, air, and sea remain closed to passengers.

The President said the extension is to enable the country contain the coronavirus.

Ghana now has 2,074 confirmed cases of coronavirus, and has recorded 17 deaths related to the virus.
