‘Music Industry Will Struggle To Recover After Covid-19’

Appietus

Music producer Appiah Dankwah, known popularly as Appietus, has disclosed that the Ghanaian music industry will struggle to recover after the Covid-19 pandemic.

With the ban on public gatherings due to the pandemic, the music industry has been hit massively, especially with the cancellations of musical shows and festivals and others, in what is expected to be a massive setback for various industry players.

But the award-winning producer, who has numerous hits songs to his credit, said aspects of the entertainment industry would suffer if the situation worsens.

“So many sectors have been massively hit and the entertainment industry has not been spared either and it would affect individuals and groups in the music business,” he told the GNA.

“Musicians can still record songs and release them but in an industry where players largely depend on shows and festival to earn a living it means some would certainly be affected,” Appietus added.

He urged musicians to seek different ways to go about their music business, and was hopeful that this would get better shortly.

A number of stakeholders in the showbiz industry also believe the industry would struggle greatly should the outbreak not end soon.

According to the stakeholders, Ghana’s entertainment sector would face tough times ahead should the coronavirus pandemic persist.

”Many musicians and other music industry players have been badly hit as they have been denied their livelihood due to the outbreak, but we look to God to deliver the country from this virus,” one of them told BEATWAVES.
