Akufo Addo Lauds Freddie Blay

Freddie Blay

PRESIDENT AKUFO-Addo praised outgoing National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, for his unquantifiable contributions to the party during the National Delegates’ Congress of the NPP at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra on Saturday.

“We are saying goodbye to a man who was not originally with us. He belonged to another political tradition, but whose sole belief in our party and its values, decided to join us,” he stated.

According to him, Mr. Blay, did not only join the NPP, but stepped forward to take charge of the affairs of the party when it was in crisis in 2015 after a handful of its members attempted to “sow unnecessarily seeds of discord and confusion” in it.

The President said, “As a recent convert, he led us to victory in 2016. We maintained him in office again and he led us, our party, to victory in 2020.”

“All of us, join me saying a great big ayekoo, congratulations to my friend, Ellembelle Blay (qualifying Mr. Blay with his Ellembelle constituency). Well done and we thank you,” he stated.

He continued, “We will never forget your contribution to the progress and welfare of the New Patriotic Party. And God bless you in your future endeavours.”
