Alhaji Sidiku Buari and late President Jerry John Rawlings
Alhaji Sidiku Buari, former President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), has described late President Jerry John Rawlings as a “man of the people.”
In his tribute to the ex-President yesterday, he shared a video of his photos with Rawlings from back in the days and his music titled, Power To The People, playing at the background.
According to him, Rawlings sacrificed his life for the benefit of the ordinary Ghanaian.
He wrote, “POWER TO THE PEOPLE.”
“This was the song played throughout June 4, 1979 in support of the Revolution led by the late Flt. Lt. JJ Rawlings on the only radio station at that time – The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).
The late JJ Rawlings who was the Longest Serving President, sacrificed his life to lift the image of ordinary Ghanaians from POVERTY, CHEATING, CORRUPTION and INJUSTICE. He stood for PROBITY, ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY.
JJ Rawlings was Disciplinary and Visionary Leader who vested Power to the Ghanaian People no matter your Tribe or Religion. May His Soul Rest in Perfect Peace.”
President Rawlings unfortunately died on Thursday, November 12, 2020, and this plunged the country, as well as the entire African continent in a deep sorrow.
His remains was laid to rest yesterday at the Military Cemetery in Burma Camp after a burial service at the Independence Square. A lot of events took place in his honour, including a 21-gun salute by the military.
