Apotey Is Yilo-Krobo Chair

Dr. Gabriel Odeh Apotey

Dr. Gabriel Odeh Apotey, former Financial Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Yilo–Krobo Constituency, has been elected as the new Chairman of the constituency in the just-ended constituency elections.

Dr. Apotey received overwhelming endorsement from the delegates as he polled 408 votes to beat his only contender Emmanuel Lam who got 282 votes. Incumbent Chairman Richard Twum–Barimah did not seek re-election.

The new Chairman after the declaration told DAILY GUIDE that his main agenda is to work with the rank and file to unseat the opposition NDC in the constituency in the 2020 general election.

“With total commitment, the party would give NDC keen competition in the near future and the revolution is going to be led by me,” he declared, adding “the Yilo-Krobo NPP is very serious about capturing the seat in order to get more shares in the massive developmental projects planned for the country.”

Dr. Apotey, a grassroots NPP man who served as a Zonal Organiser for ‘Friends of Nana Addo’ in past elections, noted that, “the Yilo-Krobo Constituency is also part of the three Krobo constituencies. The political trend in the Kroboland is very interesting. The opposition National Democratic Congress has won all the previous elections in the area.”

He commended the delegates for entrusting the party’s future in his hands. Others who also got elected were Asordji Ebenezer who was elected as the 1st Vice chairman, David Awuku as 2nd Vice, Tettey Richmond as Secretary while Apenahie Nichodemus and Asantewa Asante became Assistant Secretary and Women’s Organiser respectively.

George Teye won as Youth Organizer, Richard Curtis Obu as Organiser, Dennis Adonteng retained his position as the Treasurer while Alhaji Seidu retained his Nasara Coordinator position.
