Nii Klɔtia Ayikwei Tutu being hailed by his kinsmen
Michael Ayikwei Afutu has been installed the new chief of the Asere-Kronaa of Ga Mashie in the Greater Accra Region.
His installation took place on Saturday, May 7th, under the stool name Nii Klɔtia Ayikwei Tutu.
Nii Klɔtia Ayikwei Tutu who also doubles as Neefu Jorbu-We Nii Akwashong I and Tabora Mantsɛ I, was installed to see to the development of Aserekotopong members among other duties.
During his ceremony at the Ahinetse Aboche Amartei Amarfio-We at Akoto Lante, family members as well as the general public led by traditional leaders were seen in their all-white regalia.
They sang and danced through the town’s main streets to celebrate the new chief’s installation amid musket firing.
As custom dictates, before the alpine goat was slaughtered at the entrance of the Ahinetse Aboche Amartei Amarfio We, Nii Amarkai III, Asere Dzaasetse poured libations to invoke the gods’ spirit to protect and guide the new chief and their families.
After the rituals, Nii Klɔtia Ayikwei Tutu under the influence of the spirits was made to jump three times before entering the Duala Chambers of the Ahinetse Aboche Amartei Amarfio We.
This according to Anorhuma Manya (queen mother), Naa Kordei Anorhum I, signifies his acceptance by the gods to lead the Asere-Kronaa We as their new chief.
Nii Klɔtia Ayikwei Tutu was made to swear an oath with the sword of power. He pledged to support and defend its traditions, customs, and properties against the enemy.
Speaking after the ceremony, Nii Klɔtia Ayikwei Tutu reaffirmed his commitment to championing technical and vocational training within his jurisdiction. This will help reduce youth unemployment, teenage pregnancies, and misfit behaviours exhibited by the youth.
He also appealed to residents within the Greater Accra region to comply with the ban on noise making which is set to begin on May 15.
“Respect the Ga tradition on the ban-on noise making so we can co-exist as one people. Anybody irrespective of your colour, clan or personality will be dealt with if found guilty of disobeying the law ban on making noise,” he said.
