The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the governing New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly called Chairman Wontumi, has rubbished reports that the party owes rent.
He described the media reports as false that the party was owing rent hence, the landlady had stormed the regional headquarters to close it down.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman said the move is to tarnish his image and make him unpopular by his opponents in the upcoming Ashanti regional primaries.
Duncan Opoku Boateng, Leader of the communication team of Chairman Wontumi’s 2024 campaign team, addressing a news conference Monday November 22, 2021 said it met with the property owners who affirmed that the party does not owe rent.
He noted that the regional party headquarters was rented for 10 years and was solely fully paid for by their boss and that he does not owe the said landlady.
According to him, some people who want to contest Chairman Wontumi orchestrated the rumour and subsequent action by instigating the nieces of the landlady in a bid to make the regional chairman appear incompetent and unpopular as the party’s internal elections approach.
He however mentioned that the party executives have initiated investigations into the matter to unravel those behind it for necessary action according to regulations of the party.
