Ayawaso Probe: Masked Men Are National Security Informants

IT HAS emerged that the fearful looking masked men during the Ayawaso West Wuogon By-election did not have any bad motives.

Commander in Charge of the SWAT Unit of the National Security, DSP Samuel Kojo Azuku told the Justice Emile Short’s Commission of Inquiry probing the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election shootings on Monday, February 18, 2019, that the men wore masks to disguise themselves because they are informants of National Security.

He said some of the men are informants who provide information from areas where top hierarchy of National Security cannot visit.

He said they never put on the masks on that day for any wrong reasons but rather to disguise themselves for safety.

According to him, before January 31, 2019 by-election, the National Security team had gone on other operations with the masked wearing men.

He said there were 60 members making up the SWAT Team on that day and there were 25 police personnel and 35 civilian operatives.
