No Road Markings On Juaso – Konongo Road

The Juaso – Konongo road on the Accra – Kumasi highway, hankering for road markings

THE LIKELIHOOD of a road accident occurring on the Juaso – Konongo road in the Ashanti Region is high.

The reason is that there are no proper road markings on that busy stretch, which is located on the Kumasi – Accra highway.

DAILY GUIDE visited the area this weekend and seriously all the road markings had vanished, posing danger to road users.

The white paint that divides the two major highways had almost disappeared, making drivers from opposing ends struggle to drive within their lanes.

Deadly Crashes

There have been reports of vehicles from the Accra – Kumasi directions crashing head-on on that busy road in the past.

Several innocent souls have been lost and many others have also suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the crashes.

If what the paper spotted on the road is anything to go by, then lack of road markings is easily among the causes of the crashes.

Mr. Oppong, who was travelling on the road, said he had not seen road markings on the Juaso – Konongo road for many years.

He warned that the lack of road markings on the road could easily cause vehicular accidents and lead to deaths and injuries.

Another traveller on the road, who gave his name as John, condemned road authorities for not painting the road markings.

He asked: “How much will it cost the state to paint the roads? They just don’t value human lives in this country”.

John, who was fuming with rage, charged the authorities concerned to quickly paint the road markings to help avert crashes.
