Ayawaso Probe: Sam George Beater Yet to be Arrested

Sam George, NDC MP for Ningo-Prampram

The National Security operative who manhandled the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel George, during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election is yet to be arrested, although he has been identified.

National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah, who disclosed this when he appeared before the Commission of Inquiry looking into the hostility that characterised the election, said although the officer has been questioned, he is yet to be detained for the criminal offense.

“It will be interesting to find out why he has not been arrested,” Mr. Kan-Dapaah said.

He indicated that according to the briefing he received, the MP had been pacing up and down meters away from the vehicle the officer was in on the Bawaleshie Park, announcing that a man had been killed in his own house.

Hestated that the operative, knowing the statement by the NDC MP was untrue, warned him to stop causing fear and panic by spreading false information.

The minister reported to the commission that the NDC MP was slapped after the operative’s repeated warnings were ignored by the MP.

In a video which has gone viral, a bulky-looking man jumped out of a vehicle and after approaching the MP Sam George, threw his hands towards the face of the MP who stumbled a few steps back before retreating from where the police vehicles were stationed on the park.

The MP later said he was slapped by the officer.

The police have said it is investigating the mayhem and has assured the public it will ensure perpetrators of the violence are punished.
