Baidoe-Ansah Improves Reading Habits

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwesimintsim in the Western Region, Joe Baidoe-Ansaah says education is the best legacy that parents can bequeath to their children.

“Parents must purchase educative books for their children, teach and monitor them to read, and encourage them to utilize the knowledge towards building successful adult lives,” he said.

Joe Baidoe-Ansah disclosed this while presenting books on various subjects to a community library in the constituency which is being managed by EDUYAL Foundation to help improve the reading and writing skills of school children in the constituency.

He explained that the donation was to encourage the school children and young people in the area to develop the habit of reading to improve their social status in the face modern challenges.

He said education would help people to escape poverty and other social vices, among others.

The MP urged parents and guardians in the area to encourage their children and wards to patronize the facility regularly.

Paul Jutta, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EDUYAL Foundation, explained that as a teacher living in Kwesimintsim where many children drop out of school, he resolved to teach the young ones in the area to read and write.

“Education is essential to a child’s development, hence the establishment of EDUYAL Foundation to assist neglected children and dropouts to learn how to read and write.

He noted that apart from the library project, the Foundation offers adult literacy evening classes.

“We started with five adults and later more people joined. We have taught traders, taxi drivers, hairdressers and carpenters, among others,” he added.

He urged other philanthropists and other organizations in the area to emulate the shining example of the Kwesimintsim MP and assist in the education of children who are the country’s future leaders.

Present were the parliamentary candidates of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Augustine Arthur, Convention People’s Party (CPP), Lawyer Abekah and an independent candidate, who are all contesting in this year’s elections.
